Fred Urquart’s original citizen science program that started in the 1950s. This pioneering program was one of the first to engage a network of citizen volunteers to tag and report tag recoveries and allowed the path of the monarch's fall migration to be tracked and eventually was used as the basis for the discovery of the overwinter colonies in Mexico. This story is amazingly told in the IMAX film Flight of the Butterflies and we highly recommend you see it if you can!
